Express Entry Process
The federal government has created an online system to manage the intake process of applications. This new application has replaced the previous ‘first come, first served’ process.
Based on the program that you are using for express entry, you will need to meet the requirements prior to submitting a self-assessed profile online to the Express entry pool. Once your profile is submitted, your application will be placed in a pool of pre-screened candidates and scored based on core factors such as: skills, work experience, language ability, education and other details.
The top scoring candidates are informed every few weeks. Once the candidate is informed, the application must be submitted within 60 days to one of the programs below. Failure to submit the application within 6 months will make the request invalid and the process must be repeated.

Comprehensive Ranking System
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is a points-based system based on your self-assessed online profile. All candidates submitted at the same time are ranked against each other. The system ranking is prioritized to those who contribute to economic success such as language, education and work experience.
Points are awarded to a maximum of 1,200 points. The highest ranking applicant will be offered an invitation to apply for permanent residence during draw periods.
Having a job offer prior to submitting the online profile will increase your chances of selection. Job offers in the managerial field are worth 200 points, while other job offers are worth 50 points
Your CRS profile will be valid for 12 months, during which time changes can be made to your profile (such as language or education level)
