Yukon Nominee Program (YMP)

The Yukon Nominee Program (YNP)’s partnership with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada allows Yukon to nominate applicants to qualify for permanent residency.  To facilitate this, Yukon has divided its Yukon Nominee Program into streams dedicated to skilled workers and critical impact workers.

  • Critical Impact Worker Program

    • Meet NOC category A,0 or B and the Critical Impact Worker Stream falls under categories C or D.
    • Both Employer and Applicant to complete the Yukon Nominee Program Application
    • Applicant must submit language test valid for 2 years.
    • Applicant submits all documentation requested by the Federal Government. Translated in English or French.
    • All application fields must be completed.

Skilled Workers Program

Yukon’s market can be saturated at times, to ensure that there is continuous employment, Yukon looks to employee for permanent residents or residents outside of Canada who have the skills required for the local labour market.  Those selected, are provided permanent resident visas to settle and work in York.

  • Foreign Nominee Requirements 

    • Proof of education/credentials that meet minimum high-school equivalent in Yukon
    • At least one year of related work experience
    • Skilled worker category (Level 0 and A) Language proficiency test
      • 4L CELPIP General test before April 2014 and 7 CELPIP General test after April 1, 2014 n listening, speaking, reading and writing
      • 7 for IELTS-General test in listening, speaking, reading and writing
      • 4 TEF (French) in listening, speaking, reading and writing
    • Skilled worker category (Level B) Language proficiency test
      • 3L CELPIP General test before April 2014 and 5 CELPIP General test after April 1, 2014 n listening, speaking, reading and writing
      • 5 for IELTS-General test in listening, speaking, reading and writing
      • 3 TEF (French) in listening, speaking, reading and writing
    • Applicant who currently reside in Canada and maintain a valid work permit
    • Applicant on student permit with one-year study for a certificate or two years of study for a diploma program or bachelors program.
      • Those in ESL program must complete level 8 of the ESL program.
  • Employer Requirements

    • Employer must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident
    • Employer must have a registered and operating business for a minimum of 1 year.
    • Applicant must meet minimum requirement of labour standard Employers must provide business license
    • Employers must provide health insurance that gives similar coverage under the Yukon resident Health Care Insurance Plan Act.
    • Employer must provide Yukon median wage for NOC as per Employment and Social Development Canada
    • Employer must pay for air travel cost plus return.
    • Employer must verify previous work experience and qualification in Yukon.

Business Nominee Program

  • Requirements 

    • Meet NOC category 0 or A
    • Applicant to have minimum of 65 points on assessment grid
    • Applicant has minimum high school certification (equivalent to Canadian high school)
    • Applicant must have minimum of 3 years of entrepreneurial or business management experience
    • Applicant must have 5 years of relevant work experience.
    • Applicant must not be a refugee or have an active refugee request.
    • Applicant must not have been refused immigration by the Government of Canada
    • Applicant must not have any active applications with another province or territory nominee program.
    • Applicant must meet the minimum financial requirement
    • Applicant must intend to permanently reside and work in Yukon
    • Applicant has not yet purchased or started business
    • Business cannot be a home-based business
    • Applicant must provide any documentation required by the Government of Canada
    • Applicant must submit a formal business plan once approval in principle granted.
